Drama Club

Mrs. Machetta & Miss Peeples

The Seneca High School Drama Club originated in the mid-1990s to promote interest in the theatre; thus, the club is open to all SHS students who are interested in the theatre, both as spectators and participants. Our purpose is to encourage support for the theatrical productions at SHS, as well as to expose our members to professional theatrical experiences. Members elect a slate of officers who serve in leadership roles and work with the advisers to plan activities and events.

Drama Club sponsors several activities during the school year, including the Halloween Costume Contest and the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up in fun and original costumes, and winners are awarded cash and other prizes. In addition, Drama Club members help with school plays and musicals, work in the concession stand, and attend Movie Nights.

Drama Club’s major highlight of each school year is a field trip to Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace to see a professional production. Members eat a delicious brunch buffet and then watch an entertaining show, which is usually a musical production. In the past, students have seen excellent shows such as, The Music Man, Hairspray, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver, Mama Mia, and Saturday Night Fever, to name a few.

Drama Club sponsors are Mrs. Marcia Machetta and Ms. Rebecca Peeples.

“Act well your part. There all the honor lies.”
