Greetings to all the community of Seneca High School from Superintendent Dr. Dan Stecken.  As we enter the 2024-25 school year, my 20th at SHS, and 4th as Superintendent I extend warm greetings to our district.  Recently I ran into a few alumni of SHS. We shared a great deal of laughs and memories. I shared with these alumni the thoughts of educational leadership guru, Dr. Joe Sanfelippo (who will be coming to SHS this fall), “Every interaction matters; we don’t know which ones people will remember.”  Here at SHS, every interaction matters. Living in this community, raising children in this community, volunteering in this community, and spending nearly twenty years here, I greatly enjoy these interactions. We continue to seek to create great moments and great memories for our students, alumni, and community members.

Here at Seneca High School, we are proud of the work we continue to do to develop The Seneca Wayhttps://www.senecahs.org/vnews/display.v/SEC/The%20Seneca%20Way

This school year we continue to grow, “The Seneca Way” as our Board of Education approved mission, vision, and values of the district. “Preparing and supporting ALL STUDENTS for success and post-high school opportunities through a challenging, rewarding, and engaging educational program, while developing Irish Pride,” continues to guide all our decision-making processes. From our individualized Student Success Plans, or the 20+ dual credit courses taught by our instructors, or the incredible Career Tech Educational programing that we offer, to the development of our RISE incentive program, many great and exciting moments continue to happen at Seneca High School DAILY. I encourage you to visit our many social media channels to see the wonderful things happening at Seneca High School. Our #IrishPride is unparalleled and our dedication to serving our students is unmatched. It takes great teachers, staff members, and administrators to make this type of energy happen each day.

Dr. Stecken graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from Illinois State University in 2004. He obtained his master’s degree in educational administration from Aurora University in 2010, his Master of Arts in History from the University of Nebraska in 2013 and completed his Chief School Business Official Program from Northern Illinois University in 2016. Dr. Stecken completed his Superintendent endorsement in 2020 and earned his Doctoral Degree from the University of St. Francis in 2022.

With tremendous #IrishPride, welcome!

Dr. Dan Stecken
Superintendent
