The Scholastic Bowl Team competed at home against Putnam County on Monday night. Congratulations to both the Varsity and JV Teams on their victories! Meet Ms. Ruthie Steffes! Ruthie is in Mrs. Read's ECE class. After graduation, she plans to attend Joliet Junior College for their Horticulture program, with the goal of one day owning her own flower shop. "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."

The Seneca High School Speech Team competed in the IHSA Regional at Bradley-Bourbonnais on Saturday. Overall, the team qualified 7 entries for a tough Finals. Congratulations to sophomore Morgan Stockman for bringing home the 3rd Place medal in Poetry Reading and for advancing to the Sectional meet at Morris on Saturday! #IrishPride ☘️
The Seneca ACES team traveled to Naperville to compete in the Eola ACES Regional on Friday. The team placed 3rd overall, just out of reach of the sectional. Individually, we had the following medalists: Emily Brown placed 1st in the JV Biology category and 3rd in JV English. Alise Jackson placed 1st in JV English and 3rd in JV Math. Daniel Isham placed 2nd in JV English. Brady Fort placed 3rd in JV Engineering Graphics. Elijah Jordan and Hayden McDonald tied for 2nd place in Computer Science, putting them in contention for the sectional competition. Last but not least, Titus Pinkston won the Varsity Computer Science category and will be advancing to the sectional as well! The Lady Irish Wrestling Team competed at the IHSA regional hosted by Normal Community West HS on Saturday. Sammie Greisen went 2-1 on the day, securing a 2nd place finish and a trip to the DeKalb sectional this weekend. Haiden Lavarier went 2-2 and finished just shy of qualifying. On Thursday, the Lady Irish Basketball Team honored our two seniors, Camryn Stecken and Tessa Krull, before DEFEATING the Marquette Crusaders, 69-39. The Lady Irish executed a very balanced attack, led by Emma Mino with 18 points, Graysen Provance with 16 points, Tessa Krull with 11 points, and Camryn Stecken with 9 points. The Lady Irish Basketball Team DEFEATED the Henry-Senachwine Mallards on Tuesday night, 42-31. The Lady Irish were led by Graysen Provance with 14 points, Tessa Krull with 8 points, and Emma Mino with 6 points. With that win, the Lady Irish have reached 1000 Program Wins!
Over the course of their storied history, the team has been named Conference Champs 29 times, has won 26 Regional Championships and 12 Sectional Championships, has qualified for the state tournament 8 times, and were undefeated IHSA Class A State Champions in 1987. CONGRATULATIONS, Lady Irish, on reaching this historic milestone. Come out to support the team tomorrow night for Senior Night against Marquette at 5:30 PM! #IrishPride ☘️

The Fighting Irish Basketball Team DEFEATED the Beecher Bobcats in double overtime on Tuesday, 64-60. The Fighting Irish were led by Zeb Maxwell with 22 points, Cam Shriey with 15 points, and Colton Baudino with 14 points from outside the arc.
