On Wednesday, two Seneca High School senior students were recognized at the annual John Ourth Student Recognition Breakfast held at Streator High School. This Recognition Breakfast is sponsored by the Starved Rock Region's Illinois Principal Association, in memory of its founder, John Ourth. It was John’s encouragement and leadership that brought principals, students, and their families together for positive recognition. The students that are chosen from various different high schools must have some of the same qualities that John had, exceptional leadership skills and being an outstanding role model for others.

Seneca High School was very proud to send Lilly Pfeifer and Brady Sheedy as our “John Ourth” representatives. Both Lilly and Brady were chosen by the faculty and staff of Seneca High School as our Outstanding Role Models with Exceptional Leadership Skills. Congratulations to both! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

Students in Mrs. Foster’s Economics class got a reality check this week in the best way possible! We were thrilled to host Crystal from Financial Plus Credit Union, who led the class through a hands-on budgeting simulation.

From managing unexpected expenses to balancing "wants" vs. "needs," our students got a taste of what it’s like to navigate adult finances. It wasn't just about math; it was about making the tough choices that come with a paycheck!

Huge thanks to Crystal and the Financial Plus team for investing in our students' financial literacy! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

On Tuesday, Seneca High School and RISE welcomed Caden Vittorini to speak to the SHS student body during SST. Caden used his own life experiences to speak to students about the importance of discovering their vision, building a strong personal brand, and understanding their value without comparing themselves to others. Students were left with a challenge to focus on becoming 1% better every single day.

RISE also played a fun party game to help energize students at the start of the assembly. During the game, participating students and staff were given an empty pizza box that they had to hold in their palm. The object of the game was to knock each other's pizza box out of their hands to become the last person standing. Thank you to all of our students that were eager to participate throughout the assembly and to Caden for taking the time to speak with us today! #TheSenecaWay ☘️
