Seneca Township High School

Seneca High School is offering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test on January 22nd. This test is available to any Sophomore-Senior who is interested in joining the military or would just like to take a career test. This test is a required test to enter into the military (but you are not obligated to join the military service if you take it) and it is also a great test to learn about yourself and the world of work, explore occupations in line with your interests and skill, and develop an effective strategy to realize your career and educational goals. Interested students can sign up in the guidance office today!

The Scholastic Bowl Team travelled to Roanoke-Benson on Monday night. Congratulations to the JV team on splitting their matches and to Brady Fort for his eleven toss-ups! Ian Janke led the Varsity team with three toss-ups. The team will next be in competition at home on Thursday against Mendota. #IrishPride ☘️

On Monday, the Lady Irish Basketball Team DEFEATED the Serena Huskers at home, 40-35. Junior Graysen Provance led the team with 18 points, senior Tessa Krull added 8 points, and junior Emma Mino chipped in with another 6 points. The Lady Irish will next be in action on Wednesday at Manteno. Great job, ladies! #IrishPride ☘️

The Tri-County Conference Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament will be held at Dwight Township High School beginning Saturday, January 17th. The Lady Irish will open the tournament against the St. Bede Bruins on Saturday at 11:30 AM. Good luck, girls! #IrishPride ☘️

ECE Senior Spotlight 🏫

Meet Ms. Addy Applebee! Addy is in Mrs. Read's ECE class. After graduation, she plans to attend Illinois Wesleyan University to major in Psychology. Upon completing a Master's degree, she intends to get a license to practice counseling and possibly a license to teach, with the goal of one day owning her own therapy practice. "It takes a big heart to help shape little minds."

"Addy has grown into such an amazing young woman. She has been such an important part of the ECE & the After Care Program here at SHS. I have loved seeing her lead the classroom by example on a daily basis. Her maturity, reliability and commitment to every task she has in front of her is going to help her reach her goals after high school. Senior Sammie Greisen has been named SHS Athlete of the Week after winning her bracket and being named the Lower Weights Most Valuable Wrestler at the Erie-Prophetstown Invite on Saturday! Congratulations, Sammie, and best of luck the rest of the season! #IrishPride ☘️

The Lady Irish Wrestling Team competed at the Erie-Prophetstown Invite on Saturday. The Lady Irish finished in 13th out of 25 teams. Haiden Lavarier (2-1) placed 2nd at 140. Sammie Greisen (3-0) placed 1st at 125 and was named the Lower Weights Most Valuable Wrestler. This is the first time Seneca High School has ever had a female wrestler win a Most Valuable Wrestler award! The Lady Irish are in action again next Monday, January 19th, for Senior Night with Prairie Central and Streator at 5:30 PM. Great job, girls! #IrishPride ☘️

The Fighting Irish Basketball Team travelled to Varna for a Tri-County Conference matchup against Midland on Friday night, defeating the Timberwolves by a final score of 66-56! The Irish were led by Brady Sheedy with 18 points, Zeb Maxwell with 14 points, and Cam Shriey with 13 points. Brayden Simek also added 9 points and 9 rebounds. The team will return home tomorrow to take on the Coal City Coalers. Way to go, boys! #IrishPride ☘️
