The Fighting Irish Track & Field Team had 6 qualifiers compete in the Illinois Top Times Championships at Illinois Wesleyan University on Friday. Congratulations to Matt Stach for taking 3rd in long jump with a jump of 6.91m or 22’8” and to Lila Coleman for taking 4th in the 400 with a time of 60.33s! Lila also qualified for the 60m Dash and the 400m Dash. Bravo to our other qualifiers, which included Avery and Emily Aldridge in pole vault, Trenton Powell in pole vault, and Jesus Govea in shot put. The Fighting Irish will open their outdoor season at HOME on Monday at 4:00 PM. Good luck, Irish! #IrishPride ☘️

Lady Irish Softball's bats were able to stay hot on Friday despite the chilly conditions, DEFEATING the St. Bede Bruins 12-0 in a Tri-County Conference matchup at home. The girls really did a nice job of getting the barrel on some balls in the
2nd inning. A couple good at bats from Hayden Pfeifer and Tessa Krull really set the tone and the bottom of our lineup was
aggressive at the plate and on the bases. Two big wins against St. Bede is a great way to start the conference
season. The team has a quick turn around tomorrow against an always solid Joliet Catholic team at home, with first pitch set for 11:00 AM. Way to go, ladies! #IrishPride ☘️

The Lady Irish Softball team opened up Tri-County Conference play on Tuesday with an 11-1 VICTORY over the St. Bede Bruins. The Lady Irish got off to a slow start in the 1st inning but quickly gained momentum, catching fire in the 3rd inning with a Cam Stecken home run. Lexie Buis and Hayden Pfeifer worked hard this weekend and yesterday to make a few adjustments and really found their swings at the plate. Tessa Krull was also strong in the circle all game. The Lady Irish will travel to Kankakee tonight to take on a tough Bishop Mac team. Keep it up, Lady Irish! #IrishPride ☘️

On Monday, RISE took 74 students to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago for our annual RISE member field trip. Students had a blast visiting with dolphins, penguins, and all sorts of other aquatic life. KICKSTART SHS STUDENTS FOR LIFE! Seneca High School will offer a NEW course during the 2026-2027 school year titled INCubatoredu that will give students an authentic entrepreneurship experience. Students will create and fully develop a product or service while discussing foundational business topics. Real entrepreneurs and business experts will serve as volunteer coaches and mentors, guiding student teams around a business concept, testing hypotheses, adapting and iterating.

We are looking for community leaders that would be willing to donate their time and expertise to the class as a coach, mentor, or as one of our board of advisors members. The Lady Irish Softball Team stayed hot on Saturday in Normal, picking up two high level VICTORIES against the U-High Pioneers (10-5) and the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers (3-1). Graysen Provance and Camryn Stecken anchored the offense while everyone else played a part. Tessa Krull did a great job of settling in after 3 innings in Game 1 against U-High and Hayden Pfeifer was dominant in Game 2 against LP. The defense was also spot on after the first 3 innings of Game 1. The Lady Irish will begin Tri-County Conference play against the St. Bede Bruins on Tuesday in Peru. The Fighting Irish Baseball Team entered the W column for the first time on Friday night under the lights, DEFEATING the Newark Norsemen 9-6 at home. Jace Mitchell was in control on the mound, only giving up 3 hits and 1 run through 5.0 innings of work. The Irish defense also made some big plays behind Mitchell to save runners from advancing. The Fighting Irish were up 2-0 through 4 innings before the bats exploded for 7 runs in the 5th. The team will be back in action on the road tomorrow at Lexington for a Varsity & JV double-header, with the Varsity game beginning at 11:00 AM. Way to go, boys! #IrishPride ☘️

The Lady Irish Softball Team was in action again at home on Friday, shutting out the GSW Panthers in a 9-0 VICTORY. The Lady Irish had to play a different style of game tonight and there were 4 or 5 girls that executed the small ball game really well. Give credit to a well coached GSW squad for challenging at the plate. Hayden and Tessa were both great in the circle. The team gets to do it again tomorrow with two tough ones at U-High against the Pioneers and the Lasalle-Peru Cavaliers. Way to go, girls! #IrishPride ☘️

The bottom of the order did a really good job of working through the game plan and getting things going at the plate. Tessa Krull executed very well in the circle against some really high level bats. This was a great win against a very talented 2A ranked team! The Lady Irish will be back at home TONIGHT to take on a tough Gardner-South Wilmington team at 4:30 PM. The rhythm was alive in the SHS Auditorium last night as the SHS Jazz Band & Choir blew us away with their Spring Concert. The choir kicked things off with four impressive selections, followed by the band keeping the energy high with four incredible pieces of their own. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this immensely talented group of students. SHS is so proud of the hard work Mr. Windham and these students continue to put into every note! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

Mr. Gary Culbreth completed his final shift as a member of the SHS Housekeeping staff on Wednesday night. Seneca High School would like to recognize Gary, along with our entire evening custodial crew, for their vital service to our campus. Beyond their hard work, they have been true "superfans" of Irish athletics and activities throughout the years.

NEXT Thursday, March 26, Seneca High School will host its 2nd Annual Irish Fest! Irish Fest is a celebration of our fine arts and vocational arts programs, featuring lab tours, a photo booth, art & auto shows, and performances throughout the night. SHS is EXCITED to announce that this year's performances will see the return of Hero's End and our student performers, as well as welcome The Crescent Circus from New Orleans, LA!

Admission to Irish Fest is FREE, with lab tours starting at 6:00 PM, and performances following from 7:00-9:00 PM in the SHS auditorium. There are varsity baseball and softball games at home against St. Bede that evening at 4:30 PM, so we would love to see our community support our teams before heading inside for the night's entertainment.
