Senior Lila Coleman competed in the IHSA Class 1A Girls Track 400m Dash Finals on Saturday at EIU, finishing in 4th Place with another SCHOOL RECORD-BREAKING run of 57.86s! What a fantastic race and great way to end her high school career. CONGRATULATIONS, Lila! #IrishPride ☘️

Ellie Thorpe has already proven herself to be quite the artist here at Seneca High School. If you have attended Irish Fest the past two years, you may have viewed one of her numerous award-winning artworks!

Ellie is currently competing in The People's Artist presented by Johnny Depp, a nationwide popularity-voting competition that celebrates imagination. She has made it to the top 15 in her group and is currently in 4th. Every week the group is narrowed by 5 and the top competitors from each group will enter the Quarterfinals on June 15th-June 25th, with Finals taking place from July 3rd-July 9th.

The Grand Prize Winner will have their artwork appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon! Supporters can cast one free daily vote. The Seneca Bass Fishing Team competed on Thursday in the Big Basin IHSA Sectional on the Des Plaines River. Addison Mann and Landon Hebel gave it their best all day and managed to weigh in 4 fish for 6.08 pounds total. This put them in 11th place out of 30 and just one place and a 1/2 pound shy of a trip to the IHSA State Tournament. As we close out the spring season, Coach Jackson and Coach Applebee would like to thank all the people that have helped us this season. Our volunteer coaches, Jason Mann, Nick Mancuso, Dave Watkins, and Justin Terry have donated time, money, and a lot of effort to help our team succeed. We look forward to the start of the fall season, and the chance to make an impact in future tournaments. #IrishPride ☘️

On May 20, 2026, the Seneca High School District #160 Board of Education voted unanimously to approve Seneca High School’s membership into the ICE Conference for athletics and activities beginning with the 2027-2028 school year. The Illinois Central Eight Conference member schools include Coal City, Herscher, Lisle, Manteno, Peotone, Reed-Custer, Streator, and Wilmington. Seneca and Sandwich will be joining the conference together.

Seneca High School would like to thank the Tri-County Conference for the longstanding relationships, sportsmanship, and collaboration experienced during our years of membership. This decision marks an exciting new chapter for our students, families, coaches, sponsors, and the broader school community as the district continues its commitment to providing meaningful, competitive, and student-centered opportunities in athletics and extracurricular activities! #IrishPride ☘️

SECTIONAL CHAMPS 🏆 The Fighting Irish Track & Field Team hosted the Class 1A Boys Sectional on Wednesday night and brought home their 3RD STRAIGHT title, the 4th in the last 5 years! Just like the girls, the team racked up points on solid performances and PRs throughout the evening. The Fighting Irish qualified 9 different athletes for state, including Matt Stach with another SCHOOL RECORD-BREAKING performance in the Long Jump (7.10m or 23' 3.5"). The Lady Irish Softball Team opened post-season play at home on Tuesday with an out-of-this-world VICTORY over the Reed-Custer Comets, 11-0! The Lady Irish failed to score the first two innings, but the bats officially went supernova in the bottom of the 3rd, causing cosmic destruction with an 8-run explosion. Tessa Krull and Hayden Pfeifer were in total control in the circle, combining for only one hit and zero walks allowed. The Lady Irish were also flawless on the defensive end in the shutout. The team will now host the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish for the IHSA Class 2A Regional Championship on Friday at 4:30 PM. GOOD LUCK, LADY IRISH! #RollShrocks ☘️

Wednesday morning, Seneca High School recognized all our Girls and Special Olympics State Track Qualifiers with cake for breakfast. The Lady Irish Track qualifiers will compete on Thursday-Saturday this weekend at Eastern Illinois University. Our Special Olympics qualifiers will compete at Illinois State University on June 13th. The Fighting Irish Football Team will host its annual Summer Youth Camp on July 7th-9th from 9:00-10:30 AM on the Seneca High School football practice field. This camp is designed to introduce younger players to the skills needed in the game of football, and to develop skills for older players playing youth football now or for those interested in high school play. Students entering 3rd-8th grade are welcome. It is $20 per camper and each camper will receive a Fighting Irish Football t-shirt with awards being given out.

Payment must be made to the SHS Main Office by June 25th to guarantee a t-shirt but will be accepted on the first day of camp. The Fighting Irish Track & Field Team will host its 4th annual track camp on July 20th-22nd from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Seneca High School Track! All area students entering 3rd-8th grade (need not be a future SHS student) are welcome. It is $30 per camper and each camper will receive a camp t-shirt with awards being given out.

On July 23rd, there will also be a culminating track meet on the SHS Track from 5:00-8:00 PM! Divisions will be separated by gender and grade-levels and there will be medals given out to those that place. Junior Addison Mann competed in trapshooting competitions through Parkview Christian on Saturday and Sunday. Addison competed in the Trap Life 24/7 Challenge, The Matt Wood Memorial Shoot, and The Illinois Indian Coin Shoot at the McHenry Sportsmen's Club in McHenry. Congratulations to Addison on being awarded the Top Junior Division Yardage Trap Champion, the Top Ladies Division Yardage Trap Champion, and the Top Ladies Doubles Trap Champion! #IrishPride ☘️

WALK OFF. The Fighting Irish Baseball Team picked up a big Tri-County Conference VICTORY over the St. Bede Bruins on Monday, 4-3! The defense was nearly flawless behind Grady Hall, who went the distance and commanded the strike zone once again. The Fighting Irish also did a great job of staying focused at the plate and were able to answer every punch by the Bruins.

Cody Clennon led off the bottom of the 7th with a walk and advanced to second on a ground ball hit by Jace Mitchell. After a stolen base by Clennon, the Irish entered the W column again in walk-off fashion on a line drive single to left by Joey Arnold! The team will now look to make it a streak on Tuesday as they travel to Gibson City to take on the Falcons at 4:30 PM. Way to battle, boys! #RollShrocks ☘️

The Seneca Bass Fishing Team had the IHSA Braidwood Lake Regional last Thursday. Out of 22 total boats we ended up with two boats in the top half of the field! Lincoln Hebel, Micheal Kucinic, and Max Mancuso finished 9th place with 1 fish and 2.32 pounds total. Landon Hebel and Addison Mann 4 fish and an official weight of 10.42 pounds. Landon had a 3.85 pounds largemouth to push their total into 5th place. This qualifies them for the IHSA Sectional on the Des Plaines River this Thursday and a chance to make it to STATE! Great job to both teams and let's go get 'em this week! #IrishPride ☘️

The Fighting Irish Baseball Team travelled to Princeton on Thursday, where the team pulled off an 8-6 VICTORY against the Tigers! The Fighting Irish were solid again at the plate with 11 hits and got quality innings on the mound from both Cameron Shriey and Wyatt Holman. The team will take the weekend off before returning home on Monday to take on the St. Bede Bruins. Great win, boys! #RollShrocks ☘️

The Lady Irish also qualified athletes for state in 8 different events, including a SCHOOL RECORD-BREAKING performance by Lila Coleman in the 400m Dash (58.10).
