Meet Ms. Kaylee Klinker! Kaylee is in Mrs. Read's ECE class. After graduation, she plans to attend Joliet Junior College and apply for their Radiologic Technology A.A.S program to become an MRI Technologist. She also hopes to then get into Pediatric MRI.
"If I could have a million students like Kaylee, I’d take them in a heartbeat! Though she’s on the quieter side, her impact both inside and outside the classroom speaks volumes. Getting to know her over the past 4 years has been such a special joy for me. I am going to miss seeing her bright, smiling face every single day!

The Fighting Irish Golf Team traveled to Timber Ridge GC on Friday to face off against Midland and Dwight. The Fighting Irish shot 161 to finish in 1st as a team and were led by co-medalists Cody Malak and Cooper Thorson (38). The team will be in action again tonight at Indian Creek GC at 4:00 PM. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named Seneca High School students Juliet Mueller and Titus Pinkston as Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT exam used for program entry. “I spent most of my childhood on a farm south of Morris in MVK’s school district. I moved to the south side of Mazon on Jewett St. when I was a junior. I am a Class of 1997 graduate of Seneca High School, where I was a 3 sport athlete and was heavily involved in other extracurriculars such as NHS and FFA.”
“After high school, I played volleyball at and attended JJC, then earned my English degree from Illinois State University. After working for two years as a receptionist, I got into education by working at Reed-Custer Middle School for a year and a half as a paraprofessional and volleyball coach. I then found a Master’s degree program at Olivet Nazarene University and attended for two years to get my teaching certificate. After graduating, I took a job at Sandwich and spent the last 21 years teaching English at Sandwich High School.”
“My husband Trent and I officially met when I was a junior at SHS, though I remember him kicking my chair from behind in Band my freshman year. We have two daughters, Rosemary and Audrey. Rosemary is a senior and Audrey is a sophomore at Morris High School and our world revolves around them right now, mainly watching club and school volleyball.”
“I’ve always loved English and every time I think about it I think of Ms. Bonnie Downes. She probably doesn’t know it but she inspired me to become a better writer. She used to make us write a set of 10 paragraphs and we wouldn’t be done until she had approved them. It sometimes took 5 or 6 attempts with corrections before she would accept them. I also remember sitting in Mr. Mitchell’s class junior year and we often talked about our futures. I knew even then that I was going to be an English teacher but didn’t realize I would take my own path to get there. Ms. Downes definitely set the tone and Mr. Mitchell helped solidify my decision through the discussions in his class.”
“I love being back here at Seneca and have no regrets. I have a sense of pride that everyone has here. The facilities alone make you feel like you work somewhere that is gorgeous. The people that helped convince me to interview speak so highly of this place. When there’s an opening at Seneca, it’s always the chatter of the teachers in the area. There were other opportunities in my career to apply, but the timing was just perfect for my family this time around. The students & community are awesome and I see myself getting more involved here once volleyball is over and my girls continue to grow up.”
“I want to create an environment where students can feel comfortable and relaxed while learning something. I think kids learn best when they don’t even know they are learning. I always try to convince them that we are in this together and I will do everything to help them get through the class. In Broadcast Journalism, I am hoping that they will be along for the ride to make it look professional and be something that the community can utilize. Even if students don’t plan to go into a similar field, I’m hoping they will walk away with a skill or a hobby that they can use.”
“I want students and staff to know that they can count on me and that I’m reliable. I want to help as many kids as I can. I am here for the rest of my career and want to become part of the culture.”

The Lady Irish Volleyball Team continued TCC action at Dwight on Thursday night, DEFEATING the Trojans in 2 sets, 25-13, 25-22! Graysen Provance recorded 18 assists & 5 kills, Brooklyn Sheedy had 10 kills, and Franki Meyers added another 9 kills. Emma Mino, Tori Skelton, and Brynlee Hunt also provided great passing and defense from the back row. With that win, the Lady Irish move to 12-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference. They will return to action on Monday at Reed-Custer at 6:00 PM. Keep it rollin', ladies! #RollShrocks ☘️
Parent/Teacher Conferences | Wednesday, October 7th | 5:00-8:00 PM
All teachers will be arranged alphabetically in the SHS New Gym, giving plenty of time for parents to visit with their student's teachers and understand the academic progress that their child is making. Our guidance counselors, social worker, and special services director will also be available near the Fitness Center if you would like a conference with them. No prior appointments are necessary for these meetings.

The Lady Irish Volleyball Team came ready to play at home on Wednesday night against GSW, picking up a 2 set VICTORY over the Panthers, 25-9, 25-15! Graysen Provance tallied 17 assists & 6 kills, Brooklyn Sheedy recorded 8 kills, and Franki Meyers added another 6 kills to lead the way. Piper Stenzel was the match medalist and led the way for the Lady Irish with a 45. The team will return to home on Monday at The Creek for Senior Night against Somonauk at 4:00 PM. Seneca High School is proud to announce that Dane Ferrara, son of Doug and Tifanie Ferrara of Mazon, has been selected as our DAR Good Citizen Award recipient! The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award honors an outstanding senior who exhibits the qualities of dependability, leadership, service, and patriotism. The selection was voted on by the faculty and staff.
Dane has been involved in many clubs, sports, and activities at Seneca High School. While in high school, Dane participated in Track and Speech Team. He also has really immersed himself in our fine arts programs. He has been part of plays and musicals, Drama Club, Art Club, Marching Band, Pep Band, and Concert Band. Dane has also been a big part of Irish Live while in high school. His leadership led to him becoming the section leader for the percussion section of the band. It also led him to becoming a student ambassador, being chosen to attend the HOBY Leadership Conference as a sophomore, and Speech Team captain.
Being the recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award, Dane will complete an essay that will have the opportunity to advance through state and national levels of judging. The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is sponsored by the Illini Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Congratulations, Dane! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

The match against Woodland and Putnam County was considered a Tri-County Conference match and the Fighting Irish took 2nd place overall as a team. Cooper Thorson shot a 42 to lead the way for the Irish. The team will travel to Edgewood GC tonight to face off against Henry in another TCC match. Good luck, boys! #IrishPride ☘️

Happy IT Professionals Day! IT professionals are often working quietly in the background, solving problems before anyone even knows they exist. Whether it's getting a classroom back online in five minutes, troubleshooting an issue at 3:00 PM on a Friday, setting up new devices for the school year, or making sure the district's systems stay secure and reliable, that work is foundational to everything else that happens on a daily basis.
