Attendants will be escorted in the Homecoming parade on Friday, September 11th @ 4:00 PM. They will then be announced at halftime of the football game that night, where we will also crown the King and Queen! On Saturday at the dance, there will be a Coronation of the Court at 8:30 PM.

Seneca High School had 7 students qualify for the National Trap Shooting Tournament and Championship throughout this season as members of the Parkview Christian Academy Co-Op Trap Shooting Team. The league comprises of 55,832 individual athletes, representing 1,972 teams nationwide.

At the tournament and championship this summer on July 10th, 11th, and 12, each of our members competed against the Top 1,800 individual shooters and Top 240 teams.

Addison Mann and Wyatt Holman competed as members of the 5-man squad, finishing in 31st in the qualifying round. After advancing to the Top 80 Team Championship, Addison and Wyatt's team finished 12th in the nation!

The team also competed as individuals in the qualifying round against the Top 1,800. Thomas Watkins (534th), Parker Jones (609th), Elliott Geier (639th), Henry Watkins (710th), Addison Mann (1032nd), and Peyton Watkins (1485th) came up a little short. Wyatt Holman qualified for the Championship and finished 160th out of the Top 400 championship competitors. Congratulations to all of our team members! #IrishPride ☘️

Join us on Wednesday, September 9th in the SHS Auditorium for the annual Mr. Irish Pageant, sponsored by TRUST! Watch as Seneca's finest brave the stage to wow us with their unforgettable "talents" and display their IRISH PRIDE. Doors open at 6:45 PM and the show will begin at 7:00. The new INCubator class is off to an energetic start, with students actively immersing themselves in the first phase of the entrepreneurial process. To identify real-world problems worth solving, students have been conducting interviews across the school and community, asking people what "bugs" them in their daily lives. The goal is to leverage these insights to design, test, and pitch an innovative product or service that solves a meaningful problem.

Community partnership is central to this course, and momentum was further built on Friday, when the team hosted a successful luncheon for local business leaders and community members interested in volunteering as mentors, coaches, and board advisors. Thank you to all the business and community leaders who took time out of their busy schedules to visit and learn more about supporting our young entrepreneurs! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

Seneca High School is extremely proud to announce that Dr. David Lett, Head Coach of the 1990 IHSA Class 2A State Championship Football Team, has been named the Grand Marshal for the 2026 SHS Homecoming Parade!

Dave Lett served as the head football coach at Seneca High School from 1987-1994, leading the program through a remarkable era that included six consecutive playoff appearances from 1989 to 1994. The pinnacle of his coaching tenure came during the magical 1990 season, when the team played the most exciting playoff game in SHS history against Knoxville. Coach Lett then guided the Fighting Irish to the IHSA Class 2A State Championship title in a 34–8 victory over Gillespie. Beyond his high school sports legacy, Dave’s greatest pride and joy is his family, sharing 39 years of marriage with his wife, Karen, and raising their four adult children: Olivia, Charley Ann, Sydney, and Christian. He adores being a grandpa to Isabella and is excited to welcome two more grandchildren soon.

Following his coaching career at Seneca—where he also spent seven years as an assistant track coach—Lett transitioned into administration, and ultimately spent 16 years as superintendent in Pana until his retirement in 2017.

Despite the personal accolades and recognition as Grand Marshal, Coach Lett remains remarkably humble about his achievements. He emphasizes that any honor bestowed upon him belongs to the entire 1990 team, assistant coaches, and supportive community who made the championship run possible. Expressing deep gratitude for the recognition, Lett views himself simply as the representative face of a collective effort, attributing the historic success to a special group of dedicated student-athletes and a town that rallied wholeheartedly behind them.

Junior Trent Powell has been named SHS Athlete of the Week after sinking an incredible 157-yard HOLE-IN-ONE on Hole #16 at The Creek during the Irish Invite! Congratulations, Trent, and best of luck the rest of the season! #IrishPride ☘️

The Seneca Bass Fishing Team competed in the ICASST Des Plaines/Kankakee River tournament this Sunday in Channahon. After a very rainy day, two of our teams managed to pull in a few fish. Max Mancuso and Chris Thompson had 4 fish with a total of 3 pounds 14 ounces. This earned them 21st place overall. Weston Sticha and Bennett Gilbertson netted 2 total fish for 1 pound 14 ounces and placed them in 22nd place. Good job guys! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

The Seneca Bass Fishing Team competed in the ICASST Cal-Sag River tournament this Saturday in Alsip. Every boat brought in fish so it was a very productive day on the water. Addison Mann and Landon Hebel placed 18th with 3 fish and a total of 2 pounds 14 ounces. Max Mancuso and Chris Thompson tied for 7th with 4 fish and 7 pounds 5 ounces. Last but not least, Miles Leroy and Cam Chapman placed 5th overall with 5 fish and 7 pounds 15 ounces, only 1 ounce from 4th place. It was a great result for the first tournament of the fall season! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

The 2026 SHS Homecoming Dance will be held on September 12, 2026! There will be many activities throughout the week, starting with the RISE Pancake Breakfast on Tuesday, September 8th. Dance tickets are $25 for a single/$50 for a couple and can be purchased in the Main Office between 9/8-9/10. The Shrocks stayed HOT on Thursday as the Lady Irish Volleyball Team opened conference play with a VICTORY over the Roanoke-Benson Rockets in 2 sets (25-15, 25-17)! Graysen Provance tallied 12 assists, 6 kills, and 4 aces while Marlie Lissy (8 kills) & Franki Meyers (5 kills) DOMINATED at the net. The Lady Irish will compete next in the Wilmington Tourney on Saturday starting at 8:00 AM. Keep it going, girls! #RollShrocks ☘️

The Lady Irish Volleyball Team took the court at home again on Wednesday night, picking up an exciting 3-set VICTORY over the Peotone Blue Devils (21-25, 25-15, 25-21)! Graysen Provance filled up the stat sheet with 9 kills, 11 assists, and 3 aces. Emma Mino recorded 18 digs while Emilia Holman (4 kills) and Hayden Pfeifer (3 kills) were active above the net. The Lady Irish Golf Team traveled to Fairbury on Wednesday to tee off against Prairie Central and El Paso-Gridley. The Lady Irish continued their hot streak with a team score of 189 and improved to 7-0 on the season. The team will return to home next Thursday against Roanoke-Benson and St. Bede. The SHS Cross Country Team opened their season Wednesday night at the Morris Early Bird Invitational. Josie Mueller medaled finishing 13th in the girls varsity race and Elly Thompson medaled finishing 7th in the girls JV race. Liam Baima and Chris Thompson both ran personal bests. The team will compete again at the Ottawa Relay Meet next Tuesday. Congratulations to all runners on a great race! #IrishPride ☘️

Building marshmallow towers might look like sweet, sticky chaos, but there was serious business strategy happening in Mrs. Foster’s accounting class this week!

Our students took on a hands-on challenge to construct the tallest self-supporting tower using only marshmallows and toothpicks. While the structural engineering was a test in itself, the real lessons went way deeper than toothpicks and sugar. Teamwork, communication, and identifying strengths and weaknesses of the forms of business organizations were key.

Watching them connect abstract business structures to real-time group dynamics was incredible. We are proud of these future business leaders for thinking outside the box! #TheSenecaWay ☘️

The Lady Irish Golf Team was on the road at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday against LaSalle-Peru & Princeton. The Lady Irish came out on top with a score of 183 to improve to 5-0 on the season. Piper Stenzel was the match medalist and led the team with a 42. The Fighting Irish finished in 3rd Place as a team and were led by individual CHAMPION Cooper Thorson (78). Trent Powell also sunk a HOLE-IN-ONE on hole #16 at 157 yards!
