As a reminder Tuesday, May 13th, at 7pm in the Auditorium is our Senior Awards Night. This is for any SHS student that received an invitation. Please remember to dress accordingly there will be pictures taken for all awards.

Seneca Township High School Celebrates Mr. Steven Haines’ Induction into the Illinois Athletic Directors Hall of Fame
Seneca Township High School District 160 proudly announces that retired Athletic Director Mr. Steven Haines has been inducted into the Illinois Athletic Directors Association (IADA) Hall of Fame, recognizing a career of outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to interscholastic athletics in Illinois.
Mr. Haines, who served as Athletic Director at Seneca Township High School for over two decades, has left a lasting legacy in the community and across the state. His commitment to student-athletes, coaches, and the values of sportsmanship and academic excellence has made an indelible impact. Under his leadership, Seneca's athletic programs flourished, with multiple conference titles, state tournament appearances, and widespread recognition for academic-athletic balance.
"Steve Haines exemplified what it means to be a leader with Irish Pride at Seneca High School," said Superintendent Dr. Dan Stecken.


ITEEA Recognizes Outstanding Programs at 87th Annual Conference
Twenty outstanding technology, engineering, and STEM programs from around the country, including the program from Seneca High School were honored by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) at its 87th Annual Conference held April 2-5, 2025, in St. Louis, MO. These exceptional programs from across the country at the elementary, middle, and high school levels received ITEEA’s Program Excellence Award. Congratulations to Mr. Kirkton, Mr. Applebee, and Mr. Erickson for receiving this award!
Sponsored by ITEEA and Paxton/Patterson, the Program Excellence Award is one of the highest honors given to
technology, engineering, and STEM education programs, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the profession
and students. These award-winning programs serve as a standard for comparison and models for the development of
other programs, with each program selected and recognized reflecting contemporary technology and engineering
education teaching practices and innovation. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their
communities, and leaders in their state and beyond as proponents of advancing technological and engineering literacy
for all.
ITEEA Awards Chair, Byron McKay, shared, “What truly stands out about our award recipients is the remarkable caliber
of technology and engineering education programs they've implemented worldwide. There's so much we can learn from these trailblazers in our field. It's an honor to count such accomplished educators as part of our professional network. "


SENECA, IL – Seneca High School District 160 is proud to announce the hiring of Nathaniel Meiss as the new Head Boys’ Basketball Coach. A respected figure in Illinois high school athletics, Coach Meiss brings with him a wealth of experience and a distinguished record of success from his time at El Paso-Gridley High School.
Meiss has built a sterling reputation as a coach known for his leadership, dedication to player development, and a deep passion for the game. During his tenure at El Paso-Gridley, he consistently led his teams to competitive success and instilled a culture of excellence both on and off the court. His commitment to player development, and student-athlete achievement has left a lasting mark on the program and the young men he has mentored.

This morning Seneca High School had the opportunity to hear from Morris native and 2x World Series Champion Scott Spiezio. He discussed how to celebrate the wins and learn from the losses in life. Thank you Scott for sharing your wisdom and for spending your time with us today!



The Seneca High School Bassmasters had a great showing this weekend. Keegan Murphy and Kellen Arnold fished the Des Plaines and Kankakee River ICCAST 2 Day Tournament, on Day 1 they placed 6th out of 48 boats with a total of 5 fish for 9 lbs 11 oz. They also took big bass for the day at 4 lbs 5 oz. On Sunday, Keegan and Kellen doubled down on the same body of water and caught 5 fish for a total of 11 lbs 10 oz. This earned them the top spot on the leaderboard and they WON the tournament against 47 other teams. Great job this weekend!






This Weeks Events


Yesterday, Seneca High School hosted a career fair with 45 different businesses and careers represented. Students had time to meet with various employers to learn more about their careers as well as get applications for anyone who is hiring. There were many interactive displays, tools, games, and other items for all students to find something of interest.









Today's Varsity Softball game at ACC has been cancelled.


Today's Baseball and Softball games vs Woodland are being moved to Seneca at 4:30 pm. The games tomorrow will now be at Woodland at 4:30 pm.

This Irish Invite track meet this Friday will now start at 1 pm for field events and 2 pm for running events.
