Servers and Services

Seneca High School currently maintains 27 various file servers that function for both student and staff purposes. These include both physical and virtual servers using VMware Hosts and SAS data banks. We maintain a Microsoft Active Directory system, PowerSchool student management system, Blackboard Learn, and various other systems necessary to provide the desired services of our school community. For email, we have opted to use Google mail and the Postini mail archiving systems. Our school website is hosted by Foundations for Educations Services, also known as SOCS. Current data storage is in-house on our data banks, and on personal devices. Printing is done through our own print server with strategically located Xerox copy machines and a Xerox Copy Center where staff can have their documents copied, prepared and printed. Seneca High School is fortunate to have so many technical opportunities.

Backbone

There are 6 major wiring closets connected with up to 10 GB fiber to the server room. Classrooms are connected to their respective closet as well as strategically placed wireless access points. As the school has already been using several desktop computer labs. Adequate network connections exist and there should not be any foreseeable need to significantly increase any wired connections.
