PAST DUE DATES:
Students may wish to use their handbooks to make note of each current due date of all materials checked out from the Media Center. A .10 fine for each Regular item per day and $1.00 fine for each Reference item per day will be charged for overdue items. Most Reference items are only allowed to be used within the Media Center, however overnight checkout is possible for some items. Check the green DUE DATE card inside the book's pocket for the most current due date. All fines must be paid, or library privileges will be suspended. Students who have outstanding obligations at the end of the school year will be placed on the HOLDS list in the Main Office.
Home Room Passes -Students may visit the Media Center during homeroom if they obtain an orange HR pass from the MC staff before school or in between 1st & 2nd hours. The student's name will be written down on a list. If students do not come in for HR once a pass has been obtained, they will be called to the main office. Only students that have obtained the Media Center pass will be allowed to remain in the MC. All students obtaining a MC HR pass will remain in the MC until the 3rd hour bell. Students taking a short quiz or test for a teacher will be allowed to visit on a regular Hall pass from the teacher. If you wish to cancel your HR pass, please visit the MC before HR begins and turn in your HR pass to MC staff.
The Internet is available to students in the Media Center before, during, and after school as a research tool when completing projects. All rules and regulations for Internet use as stated in the SHS Student Internet Use Agreement apply within the Media Center. The Media Center staff will be available for assistance in finding useful web sites and valid information pertaining to your topic. The Media Center has access to several professional and educational databases that students are encouraged to use.
Online Research Databases are available for use by the SHS students. Stop by the Media Center to obtain the passwords that are needed to access these useful databases at home. There are over 500 newspapers and magazines that can be searched using keywords and dates. This resource is most helpful for that second or third source required by many English teachers! See the helpful links for the available databases.
