How Can We Promote Illinois' Clean Energy Progress & Protect Consumers?

Support HB 2861

Exelon’s LaSalle Station has provided the students of Seneca Township High School the resources to offer a top-notch, progressive and comprehensive educational program.  Because of these resources, students have the opportunity to participate in rigorous, standards-based coursework, earn dual credit, develop their artistic and creative talents, and explore interests in a variety of career technical education (vocational) programs, all under one roof.  Students accomplish all of this in a modern, safe, and well-maintained building offering a technologically rich environment.

The benefits of LaSalle Station to our school and community are many and the relationship between Exelon and Seneca High School and its community extends beyond financial support.  It represents a true partnership.  A few examples include:

  • Exelon engineers have worked with our science teachers on ways to teach about nuclear energy in the classroom
  • Each year, LaSalle Station supports an effort by our FFA called 30 MPH to clean up stretches of road in our district
  • Exelon generously provides SHS students with scholarships
  • Website enhancement
  • Educational programmatic improvement

We very much value our partnership with LaSalle Station.  The continuing viability of zero-carbon nuclear plants is good for our schools, our families, and the area economy.  HB 2861 strives to accomplish this viability.  Click on this link below to learn more about HB 2861.

If passed, HB 2861 would position the Illinois Power Agency, which already oversees power, renewable, and other purchases for the state’s largest utilities, to oversee direct capacity purchases from zero-carbon resources. This legislation will place a value on the clean energy that is essential to meeting the state’s climate goals. Nuclear energy, which provides more than 90 percent of the state’s clean energy, is a critical component in meeting those goals.
