Congratulations to the following:

The 3200 M relay team of Sarah Virgo, Lexi Bogren, Carina Collet, and Eva Bruno finished 9th; Morgan Armbrust cleared 10 feet on the pole vault; Willow Stuedemann finished 5th in the 100 M dash; Cora Wilkinson finished 9th in the 300 M hurdles; Cora Wilkinson also placed 12th and Lexi Wilkinson place 2nd in Triple Jump.  All of these girls will advance to the state finals on Saturday!!

GOOD LUCK GIRLS!

The way Seneca coach Kim Sedlock's girls track and field team has turned both the Interstate Eight Conference meet and their own Class 1A Sectional, both on their home track, into a Lady Irish love fest, it could very well do the same next week when she takes a good part of the show on the road to Charleston.

The Irish advanced athletes to the IHSA state finals in Charleston in 13 of the 18 events run on Friday night, with eight of those coming with sectional-title performances. That gave them a team total of a whopping 194 points, besting runner-up Reed-Custer by an incredible 120 points for their fourth consecutive sectional crown. They'd also won the I-8 by 92 points last Thursday for their fourth straight title.

The two Wilkinson sisters were one key to the host school's dominating performance. Older sister Lexi Wilkinson took part in three sectional championships and a second place for the Irish, individually taking down the field in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 1/2 inch. She also placed second to Grogan in the long jump with an effort of 16-11.

She also claimed a first in two relays along with Sara Cahill, Mackenzie Maierhofer and Emily Woods, first in the 800 relay in a school-record time of 1:50.39. The same quartet also won in the 400 relay with a clocking of 52.574 seconds

Sophomore Cora Wilkinson captured first places in both the 100 hurdles, posting a time of 17.064 seconds, and the 300 hurdles, winning in 46.859 seconds. She was also second to her sister in the triple jump with a state-earning leap of 34-10.5.

Also claiming firsts for the Lady Irish were the 3,200 relay of Lexi Bogren, Eva Bruno, Carina Collet and Sarah Vir

go with a time of 9:53.829. Bruno and Collet also advanced to state in the 1,600 run, earning second and third with times of 5:26.124 and 5:28.162, respectively.

Sectional titles were also earned in the field events by senior Clara Ross in the discus with a heave of 106 feet even, and junior Shawna Goins in the shot put with a toss of 36-10.
