Ms Olson, English Teacher...can recommend a few good reads!

 Caught Reading

Around the same time every Friday morning in the Land of the Irish there is about 20 minutes of near silence that stills the halls of SHS.  This  is probably due to the fact that most everyone here is taking time out to "Stop, Drop, & Read".  This reading incentive program actually began last school year and was recommended by members of the SIP Committee (School Improvement Plan).  This year the program continues...emphasizing the importance of reading.

Seneca High Principal, Doug Evans, feels that having everyone participate in the program each Friday  provides a role modeling effect for students.    Everyone at SHS is encouraged to take part in in the reading time: Students, Staff, Faculty and Administration are all asked to read a book, short story, or novel that does not involve a school or work assignment and read for about twenty minutes during homeroom period once a week.  Mr. Evans believes this program helps to promote life-long reading skills by enriching reading fluency and comprehension, which are both necessary tools for success in just about anything students choose to do in the future.

The SHS Media Center web site will be featuring random photos of students and staff who got "Caught Reading" here at SHS!  So check it out from time to time...you may recognize some of the faces who got caught reading.
