Mrs. Marcia Machetta currently teaches Creative Writing, English III, American Humanities, High School Media, and Drama. She has been teaching at Seneca High School since the 1984-85 school year. Prior to coming to Seneca, she taught one year at Atkinson High School in Atkinson, Illinois, where in addition to teaching English, she also taught two French classes.
Mrs. Machetta has also taught English I, English II, and Reading Development in the past. Her current extracurricular activities include Drama Club Adviser and Yearbook Adviser. She has also coached volleyball, softball, and directed many school plays through the years.
After graduating from Marseilles High School, Mrs. Machetta then earned an Associates Degree from Illinois Valley Community College before moving on to Illinois State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. She did her student teaching at Ottawa High School. Eventually Mrs. Machetta graduated from National-Louis University with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
She is married to Steve, and they have two sons, Michael, age 17, and Marc, age 15. Her sons attend Morris Community High School, where they are both involved in football and baseball. Thus, Mrs. Machetta spends much of her free time attending their various sporting events. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and attending professional baseball games when possible (Go Cubs!) In fact she would love to travel to every National League ballpark to watch the Cubs play, but that could take a while! Oh, and she absolutely loves watching Dancing with the Stars!
"I consider teaching your children a privilege and a pleasure, and I love coming to Seneca High School everyday. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have about your son/daughter's progress in my classes."
