The Seneca FFA team of Heather Bingheim, Carrington Flatness, Hiede Keene, Jacey Keeney and Chuck Johnson placed sixth at the recent FFA State Horticulture Career Development Event. The event concluded the horticulture judging circuit which saw the team winning the Section VII CDE and Blackhawk Invitation and placing second at the Joliet Junior College contest.
Held at the University of Illinois, the competition involved identifying of over two hundred plants, evaluating live plants, taking a written exam, evaluating a landscaping plan and discussing pest control in floral plants. The contest was a component of the year long Introduction to Horticulture course in the agriculture education department at Seneca High School.
